Dear friends of Buffalo Area Aquatic Club (BAAC),

As the Short Course season ends, it's time for our biggest annual team fundraiser – the Swim-a-Thon!

Why do we need to fundraise?
Thanks to our swimmers, coaching staff and substantial support of our families, our team had again a very successful short course season. Our juniors came very close second in AG Championship with seniors coming third in Open Championship. Many swimmers achieved their personal bests, many club records were broken, 74 qualified for Niagara LSC Championship, 10 for AG Zones, 10 represented us at EZ Sectionals and now we have 4 swimmers with Futures cuts. Our developmental program entered its third year and is diligently preparing our future generation of BAAC junior swimmers.
Our parents and families have provided fantastic support to the team and helped the team to grow both in number and quality, bringing together swimmers from the entire area to preserve and multiply the joy of swimming and camaraderie.

The Developmental programs as well as Junior and Senior programs received new equipment to help in effective coaching and instruction. Club covers all the relay fees on every meet, the Silver, Gold and Zones/Sectionals Championship caps, officials credentialing and many more items. We are growing our coaching staff and outfitting them for meets. We would love to keep doing all this and much more!

Ok, but what really is the SWIM-A-THON??
A Swim-a-thon involves either contributing directly to the club or generating funds by swimming laps during the swimming portion of the fundraiser.
This is our ways to raise funds for our nonprofit organization to cover operational expenses and allow us to continue working hard for the coming season.

Anyone can donate during the entire month of April via our website link. Family members, friends, co-workers can pledge for one swimmer, multiple swimmers, even for coaches. Money raised by family member will be attached to the particular swimmer specified by a family member; money raised by coaches will be attached to the particular coach unless specified otherwise.

The swimming portion of our fundraiser will take place at the UB Alumni arena pool on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 12:00 pm till 3:00pm. All groups will swim at once.
All funds have to be collected by 6:PM April 30th , 2025.

The highest fundraisers will receive prizes not only from USA Swimming but also from our club.

Who will or can swim?
Swimmers, coaches and courageous parents are welcome to swim. Even when your family and friends decided on flat donation, you or your swimmer can participate. Swimmers can commit to up to 2 hours or up to 200 lengths of the pool. Swimmers will swim as much as they can of any stroke. We understand that the young swimmers will likely swim much less. That is totally fine. It should be fun!! The laps will be counted for each swimmer but swimming will not be timed.
Family members are encouraged to swim and spread the word about their swimming and fundraising efforts at work and within their adult groups.
Donors are more than welcome to watch their swimmers achieve their goal.

We will be looking for parent volunteers willing to count laps for swimmers (you can fulfill some of your support points) –signup will be posted soon.
Every participant will get a duckie;-) All swimmers achieving at least 100 lengths of the pool will receive a bag tag from USA swimming.

How can people donate?
The tax-deductible donations can be flat or per lap and can come in cash, check or electronic form. They will be accepted anytime from April 1st-April 30th, 2025.

The flat donation can be any amount (or any of the following levels) donated anytime during April 2025:
Volunteer - $25; Helper - $50; Spectator - $75; Supporter - $100; Engaged fan - $150; Swimming enthusiast - $300; All Star - $500 or more

The donation per lap:
The definition of “lap” differs in swimming from other sports - for our purpose: 1 lap = 1 pool length = 25 yards. Pledges per lap will be solicited ahead and donations will be collected after laps are completed.
The electronic donations will be collected online via the home page of our website: HERE
The donor can pick one or more swimmers, choose the amount for donation and pay by credit card. Donations by cash and checks (payable to Buffalo Area Aquatic Club) from swimmers or swimmer families can be returned in any envelope as long you write your swimmer’s name and SWIMATHON on it. Please return the envelopes with collected funds and your swimmer’s name on the envelope to Martina Puzanov or any coach during practice hours before April 30th, 2025.

Once Swimathon module is launched, you can update your swimmers page and follow your donors, invite more people to donate, personalize your message and many more.

Martina Puzanov mailto:[email protected] is the main contact for donation collection if any questions arise.

On behalf of our team, thank you! Swimming –and things around swimming –is our passion. Swimming is teaching skills like hard work, time management, and perseverance and we are learning a lot at every practice and at every meet.
Let us all do our part to support the continued success for the team, swimmers, coaches and families. We need all hands on deck! Let’s try to meet our goal of $15000 or go even higher!! The results will be announced at the BAAC Annual Banquet on May 4th, 2025.

Your support will truly make a difference for our team!

Let’s GO BAAC!
